2. Check out the The Newark Earthworks (A UNESCO World Heritage Site)
The Newark Earthworks is a really big, old earthwork. It was built by the Hopewell culture. They used it as a cemetery, temple, and observatory. The most interesting part of this earthwork is the octagon that you can visit for free! You can go to the Octagon Earthworks with your family for a picnic or hang out at one of the playgrounds around it! There are also tours that you can take to learn more about this place with your parents and friends. The site is open for tours from July through October.
3. Take a Walk Through Dawes Arboretum
The Dawes Arboretum is a place where you can learn about trees and nature and enjoy other things too. It is 30 miles east of Columbus, Ohio. Admission to the arboretum is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-15 years old. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free of charge. Arboretum members receive free admission.
4. Visit The National Heisey Glass Museum
The National Heisey Museum is about glass. It has many glass pieces from different places in the world. You can see how glass is made and other interesting things about glass too.
5. Catch A Performance At The Midland Theatre
A theater is a place where people go to see live performances. They have bands that play classic music like 60s and 70s songs. Newark has changed a lot since then. The theater has been redone and there are lots of good restaurants in the area now, which makes it a nice place for an evening visit.
